PRACTICE AND EXPERIENCE
Helena advises clients from Europe, America and Asia, with emphasis on international arbitrations before the ICC, the SCC, and other dispute resolution forums and methods. Due to her extensive hands-on experience with U.S. litigation, Helena’s work focuses especially on the legal aspects of doing business, especially dispute management and resolution, in and between the U.S. and Finland as well as the other Nordic countries. She possesses an in-depth understanding of common law and civil law, international disputes, contract issues and cross-border transactions.
Before joining one of the largest law firms in Finland in 2005, Helena worked as a litigator in the United States for over a decade. She has extensive experience trying cases in U.S. state and federal courts as well as representing clients in arbitration proceedings and mediations. Helena’s focus is business disputes and she has in-depth knowledge and understanding of the law in multiple areas, including contracts, torts, finance, products liability, class actions, officer & directors’ liability, mass torts such as tobacco and asbestos, currency transactions, real estate, and insurance.
Helena has lived in various European countries, the U.S. and Indonesia, and she is thus familiar with multiple cultures and languages, and understands the impact culture has on how disputes are perceived, handled and resolved in different societies.
